DescriptionThe DBA will develop, drive and maintain Database activity, initiatives, owning responsibility for all aspects of data storage and integrity within the environment. Further, the DBA will analyze and provide technical leadership and consulting to all IT teams during the design, development and administration phases of projects involving databases. The DBA will work with the rest of the organization to assure the best solutions. The DBA will architect and oversee the implementation of any database that physically or logically connects to the company or its entities. PRIMARY POSITION RESPONSIBILITES o Responsible for supporting multi-server production SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 clustered database environment to ensure performance, availability, and security of multiple databases. o Work with IT-Infrastructure team to design/optimize physical server and disk structure layouts in production, test, and development environments and capacity planning. o Proactive monitoring of production database health. o Maintenance of physical database environments for QA and development teams * servers, DB instances, and SSIS/SSAS services o Maintain excellent ETL knowledge and experience o Provide schema creation for new development activities o Create primary database design and objects (tables, stored procedures, views, indexes) o Maintain in-depth understanding in data modeling, entity-relationship modeling o Install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain SQL Server o Work closely with IT-Infrastructure team to provide continuous process improvement and database architecture/design expertise o Manage production database deployments from code-versioned scripts using existing deployment tools o Monitor the delivery and receipt of application data and other information to/from Healthplans and Customers o Set up new data feeds and exports as required by the business o Respond to and correct failures in staging and data loading timely manner and in accordance with mission criticality o Troubleshoot existing performance issue o Able to stimulate and encourage an environment for creative excellence. Promotes continuous innovation. o Write build/maintenance scripts that allow databases and their corresponding objects to be created/modified in different environments OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES o Maintain excellent knowledge of data warehouse architectures, concepts and technologies o Design, document, and promote security best practices, policies, standards and protocols o Provide guidance and consultation on database related questions from management, technical teams or users as required o Other duties as requested or assigned by the Director of Application Development. SPECIFIC POSITION REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics is preferred. EXPERIENCE Minimum 5 years experience in a SQL DBA role. Healthcare experience is a plus. WORK HOURS Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00, or as otherwise established by supervisor.
