Posted on 2/3/2012
Location: Annapolis, MD
Job Type: Full Time
Job ID: W385952

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:

We have been engaged by our client on an exclusive basis to conduct this national search.  Our client is a 120-bed, acute-care, non-profit community hospital. They take great pride in caring for their neighbors like their own family. And that care extends far beyond the four walls of the hospital – good health begins in the neighborhoods, the schools and the homes. That’s why they spend over 9 million dollars each year through outreach programs such as health education, community screenings, classes, partnerships, and neighborhood health centers. With three neighborhood health centers, our client provides all county residents quick access to quality, cost-effective health services within a 20-minute drive. As the region's premier center for quality health care, our client takes seriously their responsibility to help their patients feel better. In keeping with their concern for patient welfare, the hospital is in partnership with several tertiary care providers for rapid diagnosis and transfer of critically ill patients.

ABOUT THE LOCATION:

Our client is located on a peninsula on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay, in a county consisting of about 213 square miles. The town centers offer convenient highway access to the cities of Annapolis, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C. Despite its proximity to one of the nation’s wealthiest metro areas (30 miles southeast of Washington, D.C.), the cost-of living remains affordable. With its low crime rate, the county is a safe place to live. In addition, preservation-oriented planning projects safeguard the area’s character. The county offers rural charm, an excellent school system, and an unmatched quality of life. The area provides extensive outdoor activities offering over 140 miles of shoreline and over 4,600 acres of parks and open space. Safe, efficient intra-county road systems bypass rush-hour gridlock and frustration, and state and county services create an excellent business infrastructure.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

Our client is currently in the process of implementing NextGen as the Ambulatory EHR for their neighborhood clinics and physician offices. Our client offers a very progressive environment: they were the first in the state to implement eICU technology, the first in the state to create a community HIE, and will likely be the first to connect to the state HIE. These efforts all tie into their commitment to meet “meaningful use” criteria. On the inpatient side, they are a MEDITECH MAGIC site which has just begun implementing CPOE. They are also in the process of implementing Allscripts in the ED.

POSITION PROFILE:

Reporting to the CIO, you will perform as a Project Manager responsible for implementation, maintenance, support, and enhancement of ambulatory practice management and electronic health record (EHR) systems. Will lead interdisciplinary teams focused on physician practice applications. Will serve as liaison to medical community and collaborate with the Medical Director of Ambulatory Care Informatics to achieve strategic initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred
  • 3+ years of prior experience implementing and supporting physician practice management and ambulatory EHR systems
